Portraits of memory and hope

Historias sobre la violencia y el conflicto.

Colombian human rights workers are the ones who have suffered the effects of war the most, the ones who embody the Historical Memory of the Conflict in Colombia. Peace and reconciliation are only possible if their life stories are listened to. Only then can we imagine peace as the ground on which to build and grow, making a new life a reality, rather than an abstract concept.

PBI Norway and PBI Colombia have worked together to create a series of modules, for The Memory and Hope for Peace in Colombia; they bring to light the life stories of those who have suffered the hardships of war and have become defenders of life.

The project focuses on stories of violence and conflict, and about imagining a post-war Colombia, emphasizing the importance of PBI's work for peace and human rights, through a collection of videos entitled Portraits.

DATES

The Portraits last around 5-7 minutes each. The first one has been finished, and there are five more to complete, about women human rights workers.

They are based on 15 interviews carried-out in Columbia between the months of May and July 2015, of displaced peasants, members of lawyer collectives, threatened journalists and other prominent figures of the peace process.
