Mela Muter (Warsaw, 1876 - Paris, 1967) stayed in Girona in the spring of 1914. The expectation was immense. She came from Paris and arrived preceded by two exhibition hits at Dalmau Galleries in Barcelona. Soon she would become one of the most renowned women painters of the first half of the 20th century. Mela Muter now returns to Girona through an exhibition at the Art Museum commissioned by Glòria Bosch, Susanna Portell and Artur Tanikowski. The exhibition, the most complete of this artist presented so far in Catalonia, proposes a revision of her work and at the same time highlights the relationship of Polish artists with Catalan modernity at the beginning of the 20th century.

The exhibition, which can be visited until April 23, 2019, brings together 75 works among which oils, drawings and documents, most of them from Mela Muter. There is also a selection of works by the Polish artists Olga Boznańska, Leopold Gottlieb, Roman Kramsztyk, Elie Nadelman and Eugeniusz Zak.
